Today, the 3rd of October, we are celebrating the 14th edition of the Wine National Day in the Republic of Moldova. This may make you think that in this country almost everything is about wine… well saying this you won’t be completely wrong. We do love wine and we are proud of its’ quality. Numerous wineries are waiting for the wine lovers. One of these wineries is the Mimi Castle.

Mimi Castle

Mimi Castle is located in the Bulboaca region, Anenii Noi. It is only 35 km from Chisinau. Even if the last 5 years it was in reconstruction, today The Castle is opening its’ doors for the public for the first time.

Mimi Castle
The history of this place is a very important factor in understanding why it is so special and what makes it different from all other wineries in the Republic of Moldova. The Mimi Castle was built in 1893 by Constantin Mimi, the last governor of Basarabia (the territory of the Republic of Moldova). It is considered to be the first castle winery. In 1911, the wines of Mimi participated for the first time at an International Exposition of wine, which was held in Torino, Italy.

We had a tour of the Castle and thanks to Cristina Frolov, the woman that is behind this entire ambitious project, we could imagine how beautiful, historical and innovative in the same time “the Touristic Complex Mimi Castle” will be. At the end of the reconstruction, it will comprise: creative workshops, museum, art gallery, conference room, hotel, wine lounge, restaurant, banquet halls, two tasting rooms and and cellars.
